Welcome to our new online store

Check the sizing tag on a hat that you already own that fits well. Then using the Size Conversion Chart below, convert the size on the tag to a measurement on the table. This will help to determine the size of your new Lack of Color Hat.

Lack of Color Sizing

(MINI) 47 CM

Our newest Children's mini size, for small bubs... Recommended for children aged 1-5 years.

(KIDS) 53 CM

This is our Children's size. We do not recommend children's hats for adults as they are scaled down in design and are designed for your mini.

S / 55 CM

This is our smallest size that we offer. If your head measures 53 cm – 54 cm, we recommend adding a hat filler to your order, as these reduce the size of your hat by 1-2.5 cm.

M / 57 CM

This is our medium size and is for an average sized head. This is the size we recommend as a ‘standard’ or ‘average’ fit.

L / 59 CM

This is our standard size L and is for a large head.

XL / 61 CM

This is our extra-large size, available in most styles and sold exclusively online.

XXL / 63 CM

Only available in selected styles. This is the largest size we currently offer, sold exclusively online.

Quick Tip

Hat fit is entirely a matter of personal preference, you want your hat fit to suit you and exactly how you want to wear it. A tighter fit is suitable for people who are active, think a festival or a day at the beach. A looser fit is preferred for a more comfortable, extended wear (4+ hours) and will sit lower on the head.

The shape and style of a hat can vary the sizing and fit, we always recommend reading the size & fit guide on the product page of your desired hat to ensure you have selected the right size.

A hat filler is a great addition if you are unsure of sizing. It can be used to tailor the size and fit of your new Lack of Color hat (and add comfort at the same time).

Each Lack of Color piece is thoughtfully designed so each shape and silhouette will vary slightly in how it fits.

Use our size guide as well as the size & fit section of your desired hat to find your perfect fit.

How to find your hat size

We have a few simple tips to help you find the perfect sized hat for YOU. To measure your head accurately, you will need a cloth measuring tape. We also recommend you have assistance from another person, to ensure accuracy.

All Lack of Color hats are sized in centimetres, as such we recommend using a metric ruler and measuring your head in CM.

How to find your fit

How would you like to wear your hat? Select from the options listed below and follow the instructions of your preferred option to measure your head.

Be sure to follow the instructions of your preferred option, there are significant differences between them.

Option 1: Traditional

This is the “traditional” style of wearing a hat. Choose this option if this is the way you will choose to wear your hat.

1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).

2. Bring the measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it in the centre of your forehead, or just above the eyebrows (depending on where you want your hat to sit). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.

3. Check what size your measuring tape says. If in between sizing, we recommend sizing up and adding a hat filler to your order to tailor the hat to fit your head perfectly.

Option 2: Halo Style

This is the “halo” style of wearing a hat. Choose this option if this is the way you will choose to wear your hat.

1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).

2. Bring the tape measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it at the top of your forehead (beginning of hairline). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.

3. Check what size your measuring tape says. If in between sizing, we recommend sizing up and adding a hat filler to your order to tailor the hat to fit your head perfectly.

Option 3: For Children

This is the how to measure for children. Choose this option if you are measuring to see if our sizing is suitable for your child.

1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head). This is how we recommend for children to wear for comfort and to keep on the noggin' on those windy beach days.

If your tape measures less than 47cm, we recommend our kids mini size (47cm). If the tape measures 47-53cm, we recommend our kids size (53cm) and a hat filler to tailor the hat to fit perfectly. We do not recommend Children's hats for anyone thats head measures larger than 53cm.
