How to find your hat size
We have a few simple tips to help you find the perfect sized hat for YOU. To measure your head accurately, you will need a cloth measuring tape. We also recommend you have assistance from another person, to ensure accuracy.
All Lack of Color hats are sized in centimetres, as such we recommend using a metric ruler and measuring your head in CM.
How to find your fit
How would you like to wear your hat? Select from the options listed below and follow the instructions of your preferred option to measure your head.
Be sure to follow the instructions of your preferred option, there are significant differences between them.
Option 1: Traditional
This is the "traditional" style of wearing a hat. Choose this option if this is the way you will choose to wear your hat.
1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).
2. Bring the measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it in the centre of your forehead, or just above the eyebrows (depending on where you want your hat to sit). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.
3. Check what size your measuring tape says. If in between sizing, we recommend sizing up and adding a hat filler to your order to tailor the hat to fit your head perfectly.
Option 2: Halo Style
This is the "halo" style of wearing a hat. Choose this option if this is the way you will choose to wear your hat.
1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head).
2. Bring the tape measure around to the front of your head. About 5 mm above your ears and position it at the top of your forehead (beginning of hairline). Make sure the tape is sitting comfortably, this is how the hat will sit on your head.
3. Check what size your measuring tape says. If in between sizing, we recommend sizing up and adding a hat filler to your order to tailor the hat to fit your head perfectly.
How to Find Your Child's Fit
This is the how to measure for children. Choose this option if you are measuring to see if our sizing is suitable for your child.
1. Place your cloth measuring tape around your head over your occipital bone (the furthest part on the back of your head). This is how we recommend for children to wear for comfort and to keep on the noggin' on those windy beach days.
If your tape measures less than 47cm, we recommend our kids mini size (47cm). If the tape measures 47-53cm, we recommend our kids size (53cm) and a hat filler to tailor the hat to fit perfectly. We do not recommend Children's hats for anyone whose head measures larger than 53cm.

This fedora hat will suit most face shapes, but those with round face shapes will find this style most flattering.

We’ve created this helpful guide to get you started. If you’re new to hats or just want a place to start, then this is the place for you.
Just remember the most important thing of all – any hat worn with confidence will never go out of style.

Long
If your face tends to be on the longer side, it's best to avoid pieces that have a shallow crown or are styled with a short brim. Instead, try to find hats with wide brims and fitted crowns. These elements help create the illusion of width.

Diamond
Look for hats that create the illusion of elongation and length. These types of hats typically feature medium-sized brims and a flicked edge that create more shape around the face.
Tip: wear your hats further back and at the base of your hairline (just before your forehead).

Round
For those with a rounder face, it's best to avoid any style that will make your features appear even softer or fuller.
Thankfully, there are plenty of hats worth considering, including those with shallow crowns, angular hats, fedora's, cloche's and any hat you can position further toward the back of your head.

Square
For angular face shapes such as square faces, it's best to search for styles that soften your angles.
This includes everything from slouchy and floppy hats to beanies and circular styles – anything that's easy to throw on and feels effortlessly cool.

Heart
While wide-brimmed hats may work well for a long face, they don't tend to do heart-shaped faces any favours. Not only can they make wider faces look, well, wider… they amplify certain features like the jaw and cheekbones.
As seen on you
